Editorial Policies

Publication Ethics

JMP adheres to the guidelines and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal expects authors, reviewers, and editors to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct throughout the research and publication process.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted work is original, has not been published elsewhere, is not under simultaneous consideration by another journal, and that all authors listed have made a genuine intellectual contribution to the work.

Peer Review

All manuscripts submitted to JMP undergo double-blind peer review. The identity of both authors and reviewers is concealed throughout the review process. Each manuscript is evaluated by a minimum of two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.

Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive assessments within the agreed timeframe. Conflicts of interest must be declared and, where significant, will result in the reviewer being excluded from the process. The editor's decision is final.

Plagiarism

All submitted manuscripts are screened using iThenticate plagiarism detection software. A similarity index above 20% (excluding references and quotations) may result in the manuscript being returned to the author for revision or rejected without review.

Self-plagiarism — the reuse of a significant portion of the author's own previously published work without appropriate citation or disclosure — is treated as a form of plagiarism. Manuscripts identified as substantially plagiarised after publication will be retracted.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose all financial, personal, or professional relationships that could be perceived to influence their work. This includes funding sources, employment relationships, stock ownership, personal relationships, and academic competition. Disclosures are included in the published article. Failure to disclose may result in retraction.

Editors and reviewers must also declare any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from the handling of manuscripts where such conflicts exist.

Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to make their research data available through open repositories (e.g., figshare, Zenodo, OSF) and to include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscript. While data sharing is not mandatory at this time, JMP reserves the right to request supporting data during peer review or after publication.

Corrections & Retractions

If a significant error is identified in a published article — whether by the authors, readers, or editorial team — JMP will publish a formal correction notice linked to the original article. Serious errors that invalidate the findings or conclusions, cases of fraud, duplicate publication, or severe plagiarism may result in full retraction of the article in accordance with COPE retraction guidelines.

Retracted articles remain accessible on the platform but are clearly marked as retracted. The DOI and all bibliographic metadata are maintained.

Human Subjects Research

Research involving human participants must comply with the ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and applicable national and institutional regulations. Authors must state in the manuscript that informed consent was obtained and that the study was approved by an appropriate ethics committee (providing the approval reference number).

AI-Assisted Writing

Authors who use artificial intelligence (AI) or AI-assisted tools (e.g., large language models) in the preparation of their manuscript must disclose this use in the Methods section or Acknowledgements. AI tools cannot be listed as authors. The corresponding author takes full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of content generated with AI assistance.
